Millennials are stepping into their power, children are becoming more and more aware of the conditions of the world, and we live in a time where conscious parenting, mindfulness, and spiritual connection are at an all-time high.
Alongside the increasing vibrations of love, acceptance, and truth come also the increasing vibrations of fear, rejection, and ego protection. This is what the Law of Polarity represents. With the understanding that all of these intense, aggressive energies are flying around, it’s important to know how to ground yourself and reset your energy to a place of love and truth. Here are five simple practices to make sure that’s exactly what you’re doing:
1) Waterfall Visualization
This practice is great for anyone who often finds themselves surrounded by toxic negative energies like worry, fear, anxiety, anger, or sadness.
Imagine your entire body and aura being constantly cleansed by a glistening, pure, cool waterfall. Set the intention that although you are able at any time to send energy through the waterfall and out into the world, no harmful or negative energies are allowed to pass through the waterfall into your being. This is also a great visualization for energy healers who find themselves in the presence of difficult emotions, as we tend to be empathetic and in tune with what our clients may be feeling.
2) Lion’s Breath
This breathing technique (pranayama) is an easily accessible, quick practice to help you let go of any residual stress or energetic heaviness you may have picked up throughout your day.
Take a moment to find yourself in a comfortable yet empowering position, either standing strong in mountain pose or sitting soft in meditation. Close your eyes, and take a few easy, normal breaths to ground yourself into your body. When you feel grounded and present, inhale as deeply as possible, all the way down into your belly. Hold your inhale for the count of 3, and then, with the intention of letting it all go, exhale forcefully through your mouth while sticking out your tongue. You may even sigh or make a releasing sound. Repeat this as many times as you need to feel rebalanced, cleansed, and ready to take on the rest of your day.
3) Wonder Woman Pose
An empowering, strong way to enter your day with purpose and intention, practiced ideally in the morning, immediately before leaving the house or taking on a project.
Set aside 2 to 3 minutes of your morning to get yourself in a powerful, faithful, strong energy and mindset. Scientifically proven to increase confidence and decrease stress hormones, Wonder Woman Pose offers you the ability to take your day (and life) by storm. Stand confident and proudly, grounding your feet and toes into the floor or ground. Place your hands on your hips, lift your heart high, slap a big, shining smile on that beautiful face and say out loud an affirmation like “I am powerful beyond measure” or “I am strong, capable, and worthy of all of my dreams!” Repeat this mantra for those 2-3 minutes, and notice the immediate change in how you feel.
4) Sage or Palo Santo
Most of us know or have heard of the energy-clearing benefits of these two medicinal plants’ smoke. But did you know you can easily amplify their effects by intentionally choosing a specific energy to clear? Next time you reach for that bundle of sage or chunk of Palo Santo, take a moment to decide what exactly it is you are about to let go of and burn away. Once you set your intention, spend a few breaths arriving in a state of conviction to your intention, and then burn away!
Let go of any “rules” or ideas about the “right” or “wrong” way to do this. Follow your inner guidance and hold your intention close to your heart. An intention powered with love is powerful beyond measure.
5) Play
That’s right, you heard me. Play. In this day and age of rush and hurry and thinking five steps ahead, it’s important to carve out time to play and have fun. This not only helps us reconnect to our inner child and let loose, but it shows ourselves and the world that we are comfortable in our own skin and not too concerned with what others think of us.
Judgment is heavy, and the fear of judgment, or even worse, rejection, affects most of us more than we realize. It’s only when we cut loose and let go of that fear that we recognize our beauty, power, and freedom. We all make choices every day that either limit us or inspire us to break those limits. Taking 10 minutes to play with your children, dance to your favorite song, splash in a puddle or tickle your loved one is one of those choices.
“Playfulness, dear friends, is what manifests love. Love is not manifested through serious survivability, seriousness, stability. Love, the essence of love, manifests itself through playfulness.” ― Réné Gaudette
